Photointerrupter

What is a photointerrupter
Photointerrupter, also known as penetration type photoelectric sensor, photointerrupter, photointerrupter, photointerrupter, is a device that arranges the light-emitting component and the light receiving component face-to-face and sets them in the same package. By using the principle of light shielding when detecting objects passing through, the detection function can be achieved. ROHM refers to this type of penetrating photoelectric sensor as a chopper.

Advantages of Photointerrupter
Photointerrupter, also known as photoelectric sensor, is a sensing device that utilizes the photoelectric effect and is widely used in fields such as automated production lines, intelligent warehousing, intelligent transportation, and industrial detection. Here are some of the main advantages of a photointerrupter:
1. High precision detection
Photointerrupter can achieve high-precision object detection, including the presence, distance, position and other information of objects. This is thanks to its internal photoelectric conversion components, such as infrared light-emitting diodes (infrared LEDs) and phototransistors, which can accurately convert light signals into electrical signals.
2. Quick response
Photointerrupter has a fast response speed and can complete the conversion of optical signals to electrical signals in a short period of time. For example, the rise/fall time of some models of photobreakers is only 6 μ s, which makes them very suitable for applications that require high-speed response, such as ATMs, vending machines, card readers/writers, and photoelectric switches.
3. Good protective performance
Many photoblockers have anti visible light and dust-proof designs, which improve their reliability and durability in various environments. For example, SIS-ED25 and SIS-PT25 photobreakers use resin packaging with anti visible light and dust-proof design, which can work stably within the temperature range of industrial grade environments.
4. High security
Photointerrupter achieves signal transmission through photoelectric effect, thus providing electrical isolation between high and low voltage, ensuring the safety of equipment and operators. This isolation characteristic makes the photointerrupter particularly important in applications that require high safety, such as medical equipment and home circuits.
5. Multiple types to adapt to different applications
There are various types of optical circuit breakers, such as pin type, surface mount type, plastic shell type, and mold type, which can meet the needs of different application scenarios. In addition, there are products optimized for specific applications, such as SIS-ED25 and SIS-PT25 for banknote detection, which have excellent dust-proof construction and high current transmission efficiency.
6. Low power consumption
Photointerrupters typically have lower power consumption, which is a significant advantage for devices that require long-term operation. For example, the maximum power loss of some photobreakers is only 100mW, which helps to extend the service life of the equipment and reduce energy consumption

Specification of Photointerrupter

Photointerrupter is a common photoelectric sensor that detects the presence or absence of an object by detecting the obstruction of a light beam. The following are some common specification parameters and their explanations about photoblockers:
1. Slot width
Slot width refers to the width of the detection area of a photointerrupter, usually used to describe a slot type photointerrupter. Detecting objects requires passing through this slot to block infrared light. Therefore, the slot width of the photoelectric sensor should be wider than the detected object, and there should be a certain margin for easy installation.
2. Width of the transparent groove
The width of the transparent groove refers to the width of the slit in the light blocker that allows light to pass through. This width should be slightly smaller than the width of the obstruction to more accurately detect object 5.
3. Distance between transmitter and receiver pins
This refers to the distance between the infrared emitting tube and the receiving tube in the photointerrupter. This parameter is crucial for ensuring the correct alignment and detection accuracy of the beam.
4. Working temperature range
The working temperature range of a photointerrupter refers to the temperature range within which the equipment can operate normally without damage or performance degradation. For example, the operating temperature range of some high-performance photobreakers is -20~70 ° C2.
5. Rise/fall time
This refers to the time required for the photodetector to detect an object and output a signal change. A fast response photointerrupter has shorter rise and fall times, which is particularly important for detecting high-speed moving objects. For example, the rise/fall time of some photoblockers is only 6 μ s2.
6. Protection level
The protection level indicates the resistance of the photointerrupter to external environmental factors such as dust and water. High protection level light breakers are more suitable for harsh environments、

ITR 8307Types of Photointerrupter
Photointerrupter is an important optoelectronic component widely used in fields such as automated production lines, intelligent warehousing, intelligent transportation, and industrial testing. According to its structure and working principle, photovoltaics can be divided into various types, and the following are the main types:
Pin type and surface mount type
Pin type photobreakers are usually installed using pins and are suitable for traditional through-hole technology. The surface mount photointerrupter adopts surface mount technology (SMT), which is suitable for modern automation production and high-density circuit board design
Plastic shell type and mold type
Plastic shell type light breakers usually have a plastic shell, which provides good protection and is easy to install. The mold type photointerrupter is manufactured through mold forming technology, which can provide more complex shapes and higher mechanical strength
Types with screws
The photo interrupter with screws allows users to fix its position with screws, which enables precise adjustment of position during installation and ensures stability during use
PIN type with location determination
The photoelectric interrupter with a PIN type that determines its position uses a convex PIN to fix its position, which can improve the accuracy of the mounting position and is suitable for situations that require high-precision installation
Card in type
The snap in photointerrupter is installed through a snap in design, which does not require welding, simplifies the installation process, and can also be used without electrical circuits
Penetrating and Reflective Types
In addition to the types classified according to installation methods mentioned above, optical circuit breakers can also be classified into penetrating and reflecting types based on their working modes. The penetrating light blocker detects the presence of an object by placing the transmitter and receiver relative to each other and blocking the light when the object passes through. Reflective light interceptors determine the presence and distance of objects by detecting the reflected light
